Monza victories for Putera, Levet, Randazzo and Tribaudini
Monza hosted the second round of the 2025 European Lamborghini Super Trofeo Championship this weekend and VSR had two entries on the forty-car grid. Driver line-ups were unchanged with Paul Levet and Adam Putera sharing the number 6 Pro car and 2024 Champions Piero Randazzo and Stephane Tribaudini in the 66 Am entry.
Friday was taken up with Free Practice sessions and Saturday’s qualifying saw Levet and Randazzo out in Q1 setting the grid for the first race. Levet took a convincing pole position, over half a second quicker than the rest of the field and Randazzo qualified second in Am. Levet got away first when the lights went green but was pushed wide coming out of the first chicane and fell back to fourth. When Rytter crashed out just in front of him he moved up to third and stayed there until pitting for Putera on lap fourteen. Randazzo spent his stint running confidently second in Am holding off Giannone just behind him. Tribaudini took over the 66 car and the pair pulled off an undercut to take the class lead. The race was red-flagged and not restarted after a heavy crash left the circuit blocked. Putera and Levet finished sixth in Pro and Randazzo and Tribaudini were classified first in Am.
Putera and Tribaudini took the start of Sunday’s race. In a turbulent qualifying session, which was run partially under FCY and then stopped with seven minutes left, drivers had limited opportunity to set a lap. Putera started from row four with Tribaudini, second in Am, on the row behind. Putera avoided the confusion at the start of the race to jump up into third place as an immediate Safety Car period froze racing. At the restart Strignano muscled his way into third past Putera and after two green flag laps Tribaudini was up to tenth overall and harassing the Am class leader Perolini. The pit window opened on lap eight and Putera pitted for Levet who immediately became the fastest man on track. Tribaudini handed the 66 over to Randazzo at the end of the window and came out leading the Am class. A second Safety Car lasted until eight minutes before the chequered flag. Levet pulled off a fine overtake at the restart to steal the race lead from Thalin. He quickly pulled out a safe gap as behind him Randazzo battled with the Pro cars and fought off challenges from his Am competitors Ciglia and Lewandowski. The Italian held them off to take the second class win of the weekend for himself and team-mate Tribaudini, putting them at the top of the Am class standings. Levet cruised to the chequered flag, taking VSR’s first overall win of the season and completing a fine weekend for the team.
