2026 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, Round 2 – Imola (Italy)
Points finishes for the VSR cars at Imola
VSR entered two Super Trofeo cars for the Lamborghini Arena event at Imola this weekend. There was only one change to the line-up which took part at Paul Ricard with Euan Hankey joining fellow brit Fin Green in the number 6 Pro car. In the 66 Pro-Am entry Miguel Cristovao continued alongside Paul Levet.
Green and Cristovao took the cars out in Q1, a session which was red flagged twice. Green qualified in the top ten to line up on row five for race one. Cristovao was sixth fastest in Pro-Am and started Sunday morning’s race from the ninth row. The drivers and teams woke to a damp and slippery Imola track after early morning rain showers but both cars started on slick tyres. After a trouble-free start Green ran in tenth and Cristovao had passed three cars and was in thirteenth. Green passed Biglieri for ninth on lap three and both the VSR cars gained another place when Pavlovic was penalised for a jump start. As the pit window approached Cristovao was leading the battle of the Bronze drivers, holding off fierce attacks from Lewandowski and Giannoni, as Green took eighth from Grotta. The pit window opened on lap twelve and Cristovao boxed immediately for Levet. Two laps later Green pitted the 6 and Hankey jumped behind the wheel. The pit window closed on lap eighteen just as the Safety Car was deployed to drag Giraud out of the gravel. Hankey was up to fifth and Levet was twelfth, fifth in Pro-Am. Racing resumed with ten minutes to go and Levet was quick to pass Moretti for fourth in class as Hankey climbed all over the back of Perolini. The Brit quickly made the pass for fourth as Levet took third in class just before the Safety Car came out again for a multi-car incident at turn two. Behind the Safety Car a technical problem for Hankey stopped the 6 car. The race resumed with time for just one green flag lap. Levet took the flag eighth, second in class but a post-race penalty for speeding in the-pit lane demoted the car to fifth in Pro-Am.
In the second qualifying Levet replicated the pace he had shown heading up the first practice session and parked the number 6 VSR Huracan on pole position. Hankey qualified eighth and started race two from the fourth row. The second race was fully-wet and Levet shot away into the lead before the Safety Car was called out for Spinkiewicz stopped on the straight. Racing resumed with six minutes left before the pit window. Levet held on to the lead keeping Ryter and Moretti behind him as Hankey kept eighth place. He pitted for Green on lap ten whilst Levet continued for another lap before bringing in the 66 for Cristovao. A moment in the gravel pushed Green out of the top ten on lap twelve as Cristovao settled into the race, running fifth overall and second in Pro-Am. A second Safety Car period ended with just under ten minutes to go. At the restart Cristovao kept a gaggle of Pro drivers behind him for several laps before ceding position and in the process losing second in class to the vastly experienced Pavlovic. By the time the chequered flag came out Green had fought his way back into the overall top ten and Cristovao had slipped down to sixth in Pro-Am.
