VSR 1-2 IN CHINA AS KINGSFORD AND VAN DRIFT CLAIM PRO-AM TITLE WITH RECORD TENTH CLASS WIN

Kingsford and Van Der Drift make it ten in a row and claim Pro-Am title
** Sceats and Wisniewski win race two and take title fight to Monza **
An excellent weekend for the VSR crews saw Todd Kingsford and Chris Van Der Drift seal the Pro-Am title. Their incredible unbeaten run with the Mipox and Feynlab backed Lamborghini, winning all ten races of the Asian season so far, set a new record. Liam Sceats and Gustaw Wisniewski, the youngest pairing on the grid, finished second on Saturday and went one better on Sunday to lead home a VSR 1-2. Their strong performance in China means they head to Monza for the final round of the season with the Pro championship still wide open.
Sceats narrowly missed out on pole for Saturday’s race, his fastest lap less than three tenths off Sherlock. Kingsford was fourth fastest overall and took another Pro-Am pole for the 98. At the start of race one Sceats lost a place to Tregurtha but by lap two was back to running in second behind Sherlock. Behind him Kingsford followed him through to run third overall and then held on to the Pro-Am lead, fending off a strong challenge from the 2025 European Champion Putera. When the pit window opened Sceats was four seconds off the leader with Kingsford a further 8 seconds back holding a comfortable lead in Pro-Am and defending from the Pro car of Tregurtha. Both cars pitted as soon as the window opened and Van Der Drift took over the 98. Cecotto replaced Tregurtha and the Batmobile car jumped the VSR car in the pits. Sceats waited until the end of the driver change window to pit for Wisniewski, following in race leader Sherlock. There were no changes for position amongst the front runners during the second stint although Van Der Drift tried everything he could to pass Cecotto for third on the road. Wisniewski took second overall and Van Der Drift finished fourth, claiming the ninth Pro-Am win of the season and the class title for himself and co-driver Kingsford in the Feynlab and Mipox sponsored Huracan.
For Sunday’s race Van Der Drift, once more on the Pro-Am pole, started from third with Wisniewski one row back. Van Der Drift was quick to pass Li for second and was attacking Cecotto for the win when the Monagasque driver went straight on with a mechanic issue. The pit window opened just as the track was put under Full Course Yellow to retrieve car 77 from the gravel. In the driver change pit stops car 6 gained two places and Sceats took over from Wisniewski with the Pro car running in third. When racing resumed Kingsford led the overall and Pro-Am classifications and fought off the Pro car of Sherlock for many laps. A mistake by Sherlock as he tried to pass Kingsford allowed Sceats to split the pair. The VSR cars swapped positions and as Sceats consolidated his lead Kingsford passed the final five minutes of the race defending from Sherlock. The Australian managed brilliantly and at the flag took a tenth Pro-Am win to complete a fine VSR 1-2.
