SCEATS AND WISNIEWSKI NARROWLY MISS OUT ON PRO TITLE DESPITE MONZA VICTORY AND PODIUM
2026 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia, Round 6 – Monza (Italy)

Sceats and Wisniewski narrowly miss out on Pro title despite Monza victory and podium

** Two more Pro-Am wins for Champions Kingsford and Van Der Drift in the Feynlab and Mipox sponsored Lamborghini **

Liam Sceats and Gustaw Wisniewski headed into the final round of the Asian Championship six points adrift of leader Tregurtha. Taking the Pro pole for both races they closed the gap to four points after qualifying and a win in race one left them a single point adrift. Rain on Friday resulted in a chaotic race and third place at the chequered flag left the youngsters second in the Championship.

Despite running testing and free practice always in the wet the VSR drivers dominated the dry qualifying sessions on Thursday morning. Wisniewski took the overall pole for race one and Kingsford the Pro-Am pole making the front row a VSR lock out. At the start Wisniewski shot into the lead and Tregurtha barged his way past Kingsford as they headed into the first corner. Wisniewski pulled away, putting four seconds over Tregurtha in the first five laps. The driver change window opened on lap eleven and Kingsford pitted immediately from fourth for Van Der Drift. Wisniewski stayed out, increasing his lead before pitting for Sceats on lap fourteen. With fifteen minutes left Sceats had an eight second gap to Cecotto who had taken over from Tregurtha and Van Der Drift ran fourth, comfortably leading the Pro-Am class. On lap eighteen Van Der Drift caught and passed Li to take third overall. Sceats took the chequered flag in first place, five seconds ahead of Cecotto with Van Der Drift third.

For the final race of the Asian Championship the VSR cars once again occupied the front row with Van Der Drift on pole and Sceats alongside him. It was fully wet for the start of the race which ran behind the Safety Car for four laps. At the first corner Sceats braked late and Cecotto slipped past. After two racing laps Van Der Drift was under pressure from Cecotto who tried to pass around the outside but ran on to the grass. As soon as the pit window opened Sceats pitted for Wisniewski. Out front Van Der Drift and Cecotto continued to battle for the lead. Cecotto pitted first for Tregurtha and Van Der Drift came in a lap later to give the overall and Pro-Am lead to Van Der Drift. Tregurtha exited the pits just in front of Wisniewski. The two battled fiercely until Wisniewski ran wide at the first chicane and was passed by Couto and Sherlock. With fifteen minutes left Wisniewski got back ahead of Couto but as the three of them scrapped over third Sherlock pulled out a gap and caught and passed Kingsford for second. Wisniewski and Tregurtha continued to fight and as they caught Kingsford the 298 was tipped into a spin. A Full Course Yellow for Prabakaran in the barrier stopped racing with nine minutes left. The Full Course Yellow ended with four minutes left. At the restart Wisniewski passed Tregurtha but the places were soon reversed and after post-race penalties Wisniewski and Sceats finished third and closed the Championship in second place. Consistent performances from both cars throughout the season gave the Team Championship to VSR.
